Academic displays in the Nicholson Library do not have to be connected to a specific class of discipline. They are a way for students to present information they find important or want to share in an academic way. The library encourages creative and unique proposals for displays. There are a few ways to approach selecting a topic for an academic display.
See some examples of successful displays below!
Students can choose to create a poster display, a physical display, or a mix of both. All displays must include an information page including the student's name(s), the dates, the title of the display, and class/club affiliation (if applicable).
Images and physical display objects must be contextualized with text to fit the academic scope. The display must include proper attribution for images and objects. Students are encouraged to use circulating library materials as display items. If library resources are desired, please give a list of the materials to the reference librarian at least three (3) days prior to the installation of the display. The library will have the library resources ready at the designated display installation time.
Materials not allowed in displays include living beings, food, drink, or obscene content. Electronic materials can be included with the consultation and approval of the Library Technology Specialist.
